Why We Use Finnish Nordic Pine

ACQ Treatment for Superior Protection
The timber used in our cabins undergoes ACQ treatment, providing superior protection against decay, rot, and insects. This advanced treatment is a step above standard pressure treatments and is highly recommended in Australia for applications such as fencing, decking, outdoor furniture, and gazebos. By choosing ACQ-treated timber, we ensure that your cabin is not only durable but also able to withstand Australia’s unique conditions.

A Note on Quality
While some sellers may advertise cheaper cabins, they often use untreated timber. Untreated timber is highly vulnerable to termite damage, which can severely impact the longevity and integrity of the structure. At My Cozy Cabins, we prioritise quality to deliver long-lasting value and peace of mind.

The Properties and Benefits of Finnish Nordic Pine

Slow Growth and Exceptional Hardness

  • Finnish Nordic Pine grows slowly in the pristine Nordic forests, producing exceptionally hard and dense wood, particularly in the heartwood.

  • This slow growth results in one of the densest coniferous timbers globally, making it ideal for construction, including houses and log wall structures.

Durability and Resistance

  • Finnish Pine is highly durable and resistant to fluctuations in humidity, with minimal cracking or warping.

  • Its consistent quality ensures reliable performance and longevity, making it a trusted choice for construction.

Global Recognition and FSC Certification

  • Finnish timber is globally recognised for its uniformity, strength, and consistent quality.

  • Finnish Nordic Pine is FSC certified, meeting the strict environmental, social, and economic standards set by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to sustainable forest management.

At My Cozy Cabins, we choose Finnish Nordic Pine for its exceptional qualities, ensuring that every cabin we build is durable, sustainable, and beautifully crafted to stand the test of time.

Asphalt Shingle Roof Tiles.

At My Cozy Cabins, our prices include all the asphalt shingle roof tiles needed for your cabin.

Asphalt shingles are crafted from a combination of durable materials. The internal fibreglass reinforcement is coated with a bituminous compound to ensure exceptional waterproofing, while the ceramic-coated basalt granule finish adds a stylish appearance and provides robust protection from the sun’s harsh rays – a perfect solution for the Australian climate.

Compared to metal roofing, asphalt shingles offer superior acoustic insulation, minimising noise during rain. They are also highly resistant to severe weather conditions, strong winds, colour fading, and hail.

If you’d prefer Colorbond roofing, we’re happy to offer a discount by excluding the asphalt shingles from your cabin kit – just ask!

With a variety of colours available, you can easily find an option to complement your home’s existing colour scheme.

My Cozy Cabins & Insulation

At My Cozy Cabins, our solid timber construction offers natural insulation properties that far surpass those of Colorbond metal sheds or homes.

The asphalt shingle roof tiles are designed with highly reflective granules in the top layer, effectively reflecting heat away from the roof and minimising heat transfer into the building.

Our cabins are thoughtfully designed with large front doors and windows on both sides to maximise airflow, ensuring a comfortable and breezy interior, even on the hottest Australian days.

Additional Insulation Tip: You can further enhance your cabin’s insulation by adding insulation material between the floor frame beams before installing the floorboards.
