What Sets My Cozy Cabins Apart?

**** Please read all this information before buying any cabin kit.

At My Cozy Cabins, we don’t just compete on price — although we’re typically 10–30% more affordable than many of our competitors. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to quality materials, customer service, expert craftsmanship, and long-term durability.

Two of the most important decisions in any garden room build is the type of timber used, AND what type of glass is used. While some companies cut costs by using untreated timber or single glazed or Perspex glass, we take a different approach — because we believe our customers deserve better and more for their hard-earned money.

ACQ Treated vs Untreated Timber

Choosing the right timber directly impacts the lifespan, performance, and overall value of your garden room.

At My Cozy Cabins, we exclusively use ACQ-treated timber on every timber component of our structures including the floor beams (joist/bearers), flooring, wall panels, roof beams, roof panels, doors and even the window frames — ensuring your investment stands the test of time.

Some companies will try to convince you that only the floor beams need to be treated. This is simply not true. Any termite expert will tell you, if there is untreated timber to be eaten, our Australian termites will find it and eat it!

What is ACQ-Treated Timber?

ACQ (Alkaline Copper Quaternary) treated timber is a premium, pressure-treated material specifically designed for outdoor structural use.

It is engineered to protect against:

  • Rot and fungal decay

  • Moisture damage

  • Insect and pest attack

This makes it the professional standard for high-quality outdoor construction.

Why We Choose ACQ-Treated Timber

Built for Longevity

Our timber is designed to withstand the harshest conditions, offering a lifespan of 10–30+ years. This means your garden room remains strong, stable, and visually appealing for years to come.

Superior Weather Resistance

Outdoor structures face constant exposure to moisture. ACQ-treated timber provides essential protection, making it ideal for:

  • Structural framing

  • Floor systems and joists

  • External walls

Reliable Protection

ACQ-treated timber resists termites and wood-boring insects, helping to safeguard the structural integrity of your cabin.

Low Maintenance Living / Outstanding Long-Term Value

Spend less time on upkeep and more time enjoying your space. Treated timber significantly reduces the need for ongoing repairs and maintenance. While untreated timber may seem cheaper upfront, ACQ-treated timber delivers far greater value over time thanks to its durability and reduced maintenance costs.

Modern & Safe

Our treatment process is arsenic-free and widely trusted for residential construction, offering both safety and performance.

The Hidden Cost of Untreated Timber

Some manufacturers use untreated timber to reduce build costs and speed up production — but this often comes at the customer’s expense.

Untreated timber is:

  • Highly prone to rot and moisture damage

  • Vulnerable to insect attack

  • Dependent on frequent maintenance and treatment

  • Significantly shorter in lifespan

👉 What may appear cheaper initially can lead to costly repairs, reduced durability, and early replacement.

Invest Once. Build Properly.

Your garden room is more than just an extra space — it’s an investment in your home, lifestyle, and property value.

At My Cozy Cabins, we believe in building it right the first-time using materials that deliver:

  • Strength

  • Reliability

  • Long-term performance

Garden Room Glass Glazing Comparison

When building a timber garden room, choosing the right glazing material impacts comfort, durability, and long-term usability.

When shopping around, always ask the question, ‘is the glass used double glazed, single glazed, or tinted acrylic (Perspex)’?  This is so important when it comes to the quality, longevity and comfortability of your timber garden room.

Key Differences

Double Glazed Glass vs Tinted Acrylic (Perspex):

  • Double glazed glass:
Better insulation, less condensation, quieter, more durable — but heavier and more expensive.

  • Tinted acrylic (Perspex):
Lightweight, cheaper, and impact-resistant — but scratches easily, can warp in heat, and insulates less.

Bottom line:
Glass = performance & longevity.
Perspex = affordability & ease of installation.

Single vs Double Glazing:

  • Single glazing: one pane of glass

    • Poor insulation

    • More noise and condensation

    • Cheaper upfront

  • Double glazing: two panes with a gap

    • Better insulation → lower energy bills

    • Reduces noise and condensation

    • More secure, but higher cost

Bottom line: Double glazing is more efficient and comfortable; single glazing is cheaper but less effective.
